Hartpury University, our partners and other organisations offer a range of financial support packages to eligible students applying for our courses.
You can apply for more than one bursary, but only one bursary will be awarded (usually the highest value for which you're eligible).
Financial Assistance Grant*
Aims to support ongoing study by offering financial support towards living costs for those students experiencing financial hardship. Available to students studying any higher education course. The grant is not repayable and offers up to £2,000 support.
Veterinary Nursing Financial Assistance Grant
Aims to support ongoing study by offering financial support towards living costs. Available to students studying either an FdSc or BSc (Hons) Veterinary Science course. To be eligible for this grant, you must have a reduced maintenance loan and/or be studying on an unpaid placement for 60 weeks or more.
Study Experience Grant
Aims to support access study trips linked to a module/programme. This grant is awarded on a sliding scale up to £1,000 dependent on household income. Contact your academic personal tutor for more details and to obtain an application form.
Financial Support Loan*
The loan of up to £1,000 is repayable by the students as it aims to fill a void where there is a delay in the SLC fund release. You must evidence hardship and that you applied for/are in receipt of an SLC loan (ongoing/future learning). Available to students studying any higher education course.
Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA)
If you have a disability you may be eligible for this allowance for study-related requirements, such as access to specialist equipment, non-medical helpers, extra travel or other disability-related costs of studying. Please enquire.

This award offers £1,000 cash for your first year of study.

Independent Students Bursary
This bursary offers £1,500 to support study and is available to full-time students who have had their independent status verified by the Student Loans Company.
Full-time Carer Bursary
This bursary offers £1,000 to support study and is available to full-time students who have full-time carer responsibilities. Proof of Carer responsibilities will be required.
Care Leavers Bursary
The Hartpury University Care Leavers Bursary is worth £1500 per year for the duration of the programme, and is available to students who have been in the care of the Local Authority for a period of 13 weeks or more, confirmed by the Student Loans Company.
Joe Henson MBE Bursary
Open to students who reside in the three counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, studying agriculture or related subjects. The Joe Henson Bursary supports up to a maximum of three years of study, with £1,000 per annum provided each year to two students.
John Oldacre Bursary
This bursary is open to students progressing from a Hartpury Agriculture based further education course onto a Hartpury University Agriculture degree programme. The John Oldacre Bursary offers up to £3,000 for each academic year of the programme.

Martin Baber Award
The Martin Baber Award is an international work experience bursary, available to support currently enrolled Hartpury students who wish to study or work abroad within the Agricultural sector.
The purpose of the bursary is to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding, practical application and transferable skills in a global agricultural context.
The bursary supports students with travel and visa costs plus funds to cover an initial period once they have arrived at their destination. It can be used to help with:

A £1,000 scholarship awarded towards payment of residential costs whilst at Hartpury.
Sports Scholarships
These scholarships are open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students who are part of sports academies and are awarded by the sports academies.
Study Experience Scholarship
A £1,000 scholarship aimed to support student access trips/visits and rewarding academic achievement. Application for this scholarship is to be made in writing outlining the value of their study opportunity to their programme and future career. Academic results and demonstrable engagement with their programme will be considered.

Doctoral studentships, usually attached to a specific project, are offered by universities, government bodies and independent research charities.

If you’re looking to study an MSc or MRes qualification at Hartpury, you may be able to apply for one of our teaching assistant roles. UK-based education marketing agency, Postgrad Solutions, offers bursaries for students from across the globe who are undertaking postgraduate study in the UK.

The NFU Mutual Charitable Trust Centenary Award
This annual award provides bursaries to pay up to 75% of course fees for selected students who are undertaking a postgraduate course in agriculture (Masters or PhD) within the UK.
