English Language is both stimulating and interesting as it allows you a chance to actively engage with everyday language, understand how it works and how it has changed over the centuries and evolved to be spoken around the globe.
You'll be introduced to concepts and methods of the disciplines of English language/linguistics in relation to a wide range of spoken and written forms of English, including digital and multimodal forms.
You will have opportunities to develop your creative writing, study the power of language in politics, business, advertising and comedy and investigate how identity is shaped by a variety of factors including gender and geography.
English Language relates well to all other A-level subjects, particularly English Literature, Psychology, Sociology, PE and Business Studies. As the course involves collecting, presenting and analysing data, the subject would also go well with science subjects like Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Maths.
